Lav Diaz’s “Ang Panahon Ng Halimaw” Arrives in the PH in April
Like you, we’ve also been itching to watch Lav Diaz’s new film, “Ang Panahon ng Halimaw”. The film, which stars Piolo Pascual and Shaina Magdayao, debuted at the 2018 Berlinale International Film Festival to a mostly positive critical response, with critics like Jonathan Romney and Adam Cook singing it praises during its run.
Frustratingly, details have been so far scant and an official play date has yet to be confirmed.
In a recent Twitter conversation, however, Bianca Balbuena, the film’s producer, mentions that the film might be up for a release—albeit a limited one—in April. “Soon,” Balbuena notes. “At baka sa U.P., Cinematheques and [other] venues not requiring MTRCB evaluation kasi very radical yung pelikula. But we will try Ayala Cinemas.”
Monsterrrrr! Soon! Baka April! At baka sa UP, cinematheques and venues not requiring mtrcb evaluation kasi very radical yung pelikula. But we will try Ayala cinemas.
This sounds barely set-in-stone, but it’s reassuring. If you’ve been wanting to watch the new Lav Diaz film, there’s a (very) tentative date: April 2018. We’ll update you with more details about Lav’s new film as they become available. For now, hit up some of our previous “Ang Panahon ng Halimaw” coverage after the bump.
