Marvel has just dropped the first trailer for “Captain Marvel”, the much-anticipated superhero movie that’s determined to write a page on herstory books. It’s the studio’s first standalone film which features the origin story of a female character. And it looks damn fine.
Co-directed by creative and real-life partners Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden (the couple is responsible for indie darlings like 2006’s “Half Nelson” and 2010’s “It’s Kind of a Funny Story”), “Captain Marvel” will usher an entirely new phase of stories in Marvel’s now-infamous MCU.
Check out the full synopsis here:
“Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.”
The new trailer treats us to some sweet callbacks to the comic books, including a Skrull in the guise of a granny in pink who Danvers (Brie Larson) swiftly and without hesitation jabs straight in the face. There’s also Jude Law, who plays Mar-vell, who acts something of a Yoda role to Danvers’ Skywalker. And finally, Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury…with two eyes!
Along with the new trailer, Marvel has also released a brand-spanking-new one-sheet, which features the titular hero in her classic red-and-blue spandex getup and a large variation of her eight-point star insignia. Take a look:
“Captain Marvel” is slated for a March 8th, 2018 release!
