Cinemalaya 2020 Auditions: Schedules, requirements, details, and more unveiled

If you’re still hungover from this year’s Cinemalaya, the festival has dropped plenty of details to keep you fine folks giddy with excitement. On top of the ten full-length entries to screen in next year’s fest, details regarding Cinemalaya 2020 auditions have been unveiled as well.

The official audition dates are September 7 and 8, 2019. Auditions are held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). Auditionees are also expected to come prepared with an audition piece.

Like last year’s, this post will walk you through everything you need to know about the Cinemalaya 2020 auditions.

Cinemalaya 2020 Auditions: Schedules, requirements, and other things to know…

As mentioned above, the audition dates for next year’s Cinemalaya happens during the first weekend of September 2019. Here’s a quick lowdown of what you need to know.

  • Schedule: September 6 – 7, 2019 (from 6AM to 9PM)
  • Venue: 4F, The MKP Hall, The Cultural Center of the Philippines, Pasay City, Philippines

As for requirements, we have yet to hear from Cinemalaya. Unless that changes, below is a list of requirements from last year’s auditions.

  • During the actual audition, talents are given only a short amount of time to exhibit acting talent
  • While there are no actual requirements for the audition, talents are asked to bring a profile or resume along with a whole-body picture
  • There is no age limit to who can audition, except for child talents who can’t be any younger than five-years-old
  • The Cinemalaya auditions are free; talents don’t have to pay for anything

Cinemalaya 2020 Auditions: Full-length features

As announced by Cinemalaya last week, next year’s entries are an interesting mix of stories about everything from the Marawi siege, transsexuality, to inflicting obsessions with perfection.

The films are directed by filmmaking folk we’re keenly aware of (David Corpuz, Sheenly Gener, etc.) as well as new ones we’re looking forward to knowing.

Cinemalaya 2021: Call for entries is now open!

For filmmakers who want to give Cinemalaya a shot, your earliest bet is next-next year. As announced on the festival’s official Twitter account, submissions of entry are now being accepted for the full-length category.

Deadline of submissions is on October 25, 2019.
