Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have shared with us some still images from Denis Villenueve’s forthcoming big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi epic, “Dune”. Check out the gallery above.

The second adaptation that’s gotten past production following David Lynch’s 1984 film, Villenueve’s new film will follow Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people.

As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

The film boasts a stellar cast with Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, and Javier Bardem. Villenueve directs a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts (“Prometheus”) and Eric Roth (“A Star is Born”).

“Dune” is slated for release later this year. It hits theaters December 18, 2020.
