Millie Bobby Brown and Vera Farmiga star in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the culmination of the events following 2014’s Godzilla and 2017’s Kong: Skull Island. The first official trailer has been dropped at the 2018 SDCC.
The biggest takeaway from the trailer is that Legendary is finally unleashing three of the fiercest kaijus in history apart from the King himself. That’s Rodan, Mothra, and the three-headed beast, Ghidorah—the most powerful kaiju of the bunch, requiring all of three other kaijus to defeat and inducing out of Charles Dance a Tywin Lannister-like remark: “long live the king”.
The new film centers around Brown’s character, a young girl whose mother (Farmiga) works for Monarch, the crypto-zoology agency that’s out to use the all-too-powerful kaijus to “correct” the world by wiping out much of its population in response to its depleting resources.
Directed by Michael Dougherty (Krampus), the film is slated for release on May 30th, 2019.
