“The Haunting of Bly Manor” trailer is all kinds of spooky
The horror series lands on Netflix on October 9th.
The official trailer for Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Bly Manor—the hotly anticipated follow-up to The Haunting of Hill House—has dropped on Netflix’s YouTube Channel. And it’s as good as anyone would expect.
Unwrapping just enough information about the story (though readers of Henry James will already be familiar), the trailer lets us into the horrors that live within the halls of the eponymous estate. Like in the book The Turn of the Screw, the story is set in a vast, grad manor lovingly called Bly, where things aren’t the way they seem.
The series, this time around, introduces the character of Dani Clayton (played by Victoria Perdetti), an obvious homage to Jack Clayton, director of the 1961 film, The Innocents, among the earliest adaptations of James’ novel. She’s enlisted to help take care of a wealthy family called the Wingraves.
Here’s the full synopsis for the series:
The story tells of a young governess hired by a man to look after his niece and nephew at the family country house after they fall into his care. Arriving at the Bly estate, she begins to see apparitions that proceed to haunt the premises.
Mike Flanagan’s reimagining of various horror texts have caught the attention of critics and fans alike. This take on the oft-adapted James novel—just this year, Universal came out with a coldly received film adaptation called The Turning, directed by Floria Sigismondi—looks like it will be as equally packed with scares as its predecessor.
The Haunting of Bly Manor premieres on Netflix on October 9, 2020. Watch the trailer below:
