"Heneral Luna" is returning to PH cinemas this August

Jerrold Tarog’s wildly successful historical drama, Heneral Luna, is having a re-issued run in theaters one week before the premiere of its sequel, Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral—our sources from TBA Studios confirm.

I’ve written a small piece talking about Tarog’s filmmaking, noting that “joke [in Heneral Luna] is that Filipinos—on the hinges between melancholically and hilariously ironic—find its greatest adversaries in itself.” It’s just the kind of film to revisit following bona fide home-runs like Citizen Jake, Ang Panahon ng Halimaw, and more recently, BuyBust.

Those who missed Heneral Luna during its momentous run in 2015 can now watch it on the big screen. Along with the announcement, we’ve nabbed the key-vis below.

As the above graphic states, the film is returning to Philippine cinemas on August 29th, a week before Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral, its sequel, makes its Philippine premiere. TBA is yet to announce the list of cinemas that will screen Luna.

Goyo, meanwhile, is due to hit theaters on September 8th, 2018. Watch the trailer below.
