“Hereditary” Trailer: What the heck is wrong with Charlie?
A24’s “Hereditary” has people spun and abuzz. The new film, directed by Ari Aster, has turned heads during its fest circuit, grabbing its fair share of rave from audiences at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. A new trailer, which centers on the film’s younger principal character, Charlie (played by a gloriously spooky Milly Shapiro), has unveiled online, and it looks goddamned scary.

When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry.
Clearly, something strange is going on underneath the cherub-faced youngster. In a key exchange, she asks her mother, played by Toni Collette, who’s going to take care of her. Collette’s character, a grieving daughter named Annie, bounces off with a wry “you don’t think I’ll take care of you?” to which Charlie replies, in continuation of her thought awhile ago. “…when you die.” Spooky stuff.
“Hereditary” opens in U.S. theaters come June 8th. A local release date has yet to be announced.
