Bill Condon’s The Good Liar has just dropped its trailer, and it’s serving everything that the gays want. For starters, there’s sir Ian McKellen and miss Helen Mirren cast as two people engaged in a flirtatious game of cat-and-mouse.

The trouble is that the former plays a con artist and the latter isn’t too far from keeping up with his shenanigans. Mirren and McKellen. A scintillatingly lensed crime-thriller. The trench coats. You know, just a cultural buffet for anyone with a strand of queerness in their body.

Joking aside, the trailer lays out how the movie unfolds. According to the synopsis:

Career con artist Roy Courtnay can hardly believe his luck when he meets well-to-do widow Betty McLeish online. As Betty opens her home and life to him, Roy is surprised to find himself caring about her, turning what should be a cut-and-dry swindle into the most treacherous tightrope walk of his life.

It sounds like a premise of a schlocky 90’s movie, but perhaps—fingers crossed!—better in the same way that Greta was last year. Suffice it to say, color this writer excited.
