“The Outsider” Trailer: Jared Leto Hangs With Yakuza Overlords
Netflix is relentless. But that’s chiefly because they have to. The plan to release eighty original films in 2018 is legit and in place, which means exciting leniency especially with films like “The Outsider”—a Yakuza thriller set against the backdrop of post-WWII Japan. The first trailer for the film, which stars Jared Leto, has just been dropped. Watch it at the top of this post.
Read also the full synopsis for the film:
An American soldier imprisoned in postwar Japan enters the dark world of the yakuza, adopting their way of life in repayment for his freedom.
Leto plays the American soldier in question. He’s cast alongside a trusty ensemble comprised of Tadanobu Asano, Rory Cochrane, Shiori Kutsuna, Emile Hirsch, and Kippei Shiina. The film is at the helm of Danish director Martin Zandvliet, who directs for the first time an English script co-written by Andrew Baldwin and John Linson.
