Sing along to the trailer for Jon Favreau’s “The Lion King”
Meet the king in Disney's live-action adaptation remake
The live-action remake of Disney’s “The Lion King” is looking pretty good! Its first teaser-trailer has just been released, and from the looks of it, we’re in for major childhood feels!
The trailer opens to Mufasa telling a young Simba, “Everything the light touches is our Kingdom”. We see the animals gathering to Pride Rock to pay respects to the newborn prince. “But a King’s time as ruler rises and falls like the sun,” Mufasa continues. We then cut to the intro of “Circle of Life”, which never fails to give me goosebumps every time I hear it. See the full trailer by clicking the play button above.
The film will be Jon Favreau’s live-action take of the 1994 Disney classic, bringing back to the screen iconic characters that we loved (and hated), brought to life by a stellar voice cast. Donald Glover lends his voice to Simba, Beyoncé is Simba’s love interest Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor voices Simba’s treacherous uncle Scar, and James Earl will be Simba’s father, Mufasa, who also voiced the same character in the 1994 Disney animated movie.
The rest of the cast include John Kani as the baboon Rafiki, John Oliver as the hornbill Zazu, Alfre Woodard is Simba’s mother Sarabi, while Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen play Timon and Pumba respectively.
The annoying Hyenas that we all loved to hate will be voiced by Florence Kasumba, Eric André, and Keegan-Michael Key.
Hans Zimmer and Elton John will also be returning to take part in this live-action adaptation.
The live-action “The Lion King” will be in cinemas on July 2019.
