Here’s what we know so far: the film casts Lustre against multiple leading men, including Xian Lim, Marco Gumabao, AJ Muhlach, and Carlo Aquino who reunites with director Irene Villamor after their last collaboration, the endearing “Meet Me in St. Gallen”.
Details are sparse regarding the film’s plot, but we know that it’s a romantic drama, and based off of the new teaser that just dropped, there seems to be a kick of mythicism in the mix as well.
The one-minute teaser opens to a young girl inquiring to her grandmother about tikbalangs and why the creatures’ marriage flicks the weather to immediate downpour. It then cuts to some staple romance-movie moments, though they’re set to an eerie track undulating in the background. The teaser ends with a makeshift mache of a tikbalang-head, which positively looks taken straight out of Khavn’s “Ruined Heart”.
To summarize: I’m sold. Take my fucking money. I’m ready to be taken elsewhere.
“Ulan” opens across Philippine theaters sometime in 2019.
