The official trailer for Irene Villamor’s mystic romance drama, “Ulan”, has dropped—and it raises more questions than answers.
The moments revealed in the three-minute trailer are even more conspicuous than the first teaser which dropped last month. What part does the tikbalangs play in the story? Who is the weeping woman? Why the heck are there spooky Humpty Dumptys at the school? A mere romantic drama, “Ulan” obviously is not.
Written and directed by Villamor, the film follows Maya (played by Nadine Lustre), whose heart seems to have mysterious ties with the rain. The film also features Carlo Aquino, Marco Gumabao, and AJ Muhlach, all seeming to play Maya’s love interests.
Let me echo what I said in my previous post: I’m fucking sold. I’m very excited for this film’s release, especially knowing it’s helmed in the hands of Villamor, whose last year’s outputs (“Meet Me In St. Gallen” and “Sid & Aya: Not A Love Story”) were terrific.
“Ulan” opens in theaters nationwide on March 13, 2019.
