Netflix’ upcoming sci-fi series, “Altered Carbon”, seem to be having a lot of fun with its inventive guerilla marketing, as it released a new promotional video veiled as a documentary on The History of Immortality.

Prominent personalities like Steve Aoki and even Altered Carbon author Richard Morgan himself appear on the video. And to add to that “legit” documentary feel, the video is narrated by celebrity astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, who also starred in the science documentary, “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey”. This isn’t the first time that Netflix went out of the box to promote “Altered Carbon”. In the recent CES, Netflix sneakily set up a fake biotech booth for the fictional company Psychasec, featuring how the company’s technology can transfer a person’s consciousness to a “better body”.

Set 300 years into the future, “Altered Carbon” follows a prisoner, who returns to life in a new body, and must now solve a murder to win back his freedom. The first season of “Altered Carbon” will be in Netflix this Feb 2, 2018.
