The director of Beasts of the Southern Wild, Benh Zeitlin, is back. His new film, titled Wendy, is a different take on the story of Peter Pan from J.M. Barrie’s book. The first trailer just dropped, and it looks beautiful.

Featuring a ragtag group of young’uns, the cast is led by Devin France, who plays the eponymous young girl. She is joined by Yashua Mack, Gage Naquin, Gavin Naquin, Romyri Ross, Ahmad Cage, and Krzysztof Meyn.

The full synopsis reads:

Lost on a mysterious island where aging and time have come unglued, Wendy must fight to save her family, her freedom, and the joyous spirit of youth from the deadly peril of growing up.

Directed by Benh Zeitlin, the film is set to open in theaters early next year. Benh co-wrote the screenplay with his sister, Eliza Zeitlin.
